The 21-year-old emerged as a potential target for the north London club towards the business of the summer transfer window. However, Mikel Arteta’s side didn’t make any concrete approach to sign the highly-rated forward before the deadline as they focussed their attention on trying to sign a central midfielder.
Meanwhile, the youngster has continued to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and it appears the Ukrainian could be one of the names on the Gunners’ wishlist to bolster their attack in January.
Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Arteta’s side are open to adding more options to their flanks this winter, while Mudryk earlier said that it would be difficult for him to reject Arsenal if they were to make a move for him.
Writing on CaughtOffside, Romano claims that Mudryk’s price tag has now been increased since the summer transfer window following the 21-year-old’s excellent performance, so far, in the Champions League this term.
The journalist further claims that Shakhtar would have wanted around £43m in August but the Ukrainian giants could demand around £56m to sell their biggest asset in January.
Mudryk would be a great acquisition for Arsenal. The youngster is quick, can dribble past the opposition defenders, has the ability to create chances and also has an eye for scoring goals.
The Ukraine international can play on either flank and therefore, can deputise for both the first choice options Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka during their absentees.
However, while the winger would be a great signing for Arsenal, the mentioned £56m fee is way too much and therefore, the price tag could be the potential stumbling block to getting this deal over the line.
Arteta’s side are seemingly keen on signing a new midfielder as well as a winger in January and they might struggle to make both purchases if the Gunners spend big on one player. So, it will be fascinating to see who will join the north London club to bolster their wings in January, Mudryk could an option if he’s available at a reasonable fee.
